Nowadays, it can be seen that sufficient waste is not recycled from homes. Most people say that a legal requirement is needed by the governments to increase recycling, and it is believed to be the only way to solve this. I will address my thoughts on this issue in the below.
I agree with the fact that to make people recycle more of their waste, law and order are needed. Firstly, most of the people in our country are not aware of the environmental effects of their domestic waste. I have seen many people drink water from a plastic bottle and throw that bottle on the road. If there were strict laws and punishments for this offense, then this act could have been reduced.
The government can create advertisements for TV where the importance of 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) is shown. From the data, it is seen that tons of waste are produced annually in our country, Bangladesh. It is a matter of sorrow that very little amount of waste is recycled from the produced wastes. It is due to our negligence in this matter. The government can promote recycling by proving incentives to those who recycle their waste regularly.
It is not only the government’s duty to implement a law for this act, but also our responsibility as citizens to keep our surroundings clean. We should try to recycle as much as we can for our future generation. We can arrange an awareness campaign for making people conscious of the harmful effects of the waste we generate for different purposes. This waste pollutes our environment and is detrimental to our health. I think just implementing strict laws against not recycling by the government is not enough to stop it. We, as citizens, must be more responsible towards our duties towards our country.
