People have different views about whether children should live with their parents or not. There is no doubt that living alone is necessary for young people to design their lives. Some people, however, hold the view that young generations are better off living under the same roof with their parents. This essay will analyze these views in depth.
On the one hand, living together with parents is beneficial to some extent not only to children but also to parents. Firstly, sharing financial responsibilities is one of the significant advantages. When parents and children live together, they can split the costs of accommodation and household expenses such as taxes and utilities. This arrangement provides children an opportunity to enhance their financial management ability under the guidance of their parents. Secondly, parents themselves can benefit from living with their children. As they age, parents may require caregivers to assist with their personal and medical needs. In such cases, children often emerge as the most suitable caregivers.
On the other hand, living independently is a step towards maturity. Moving out and learning how to cope with daily responsibilities like paying bills and managing housework are crucial steps in the transition to adulthood. These experiences help young adults develop important life skills that are essential for their future, including family life. Moreover, living alone helps individuals develop self-reliant and self-supporting. Living freely gives young adults opportunities to be the boss of their own lives without seeking approval and support. It teaches young adults problem-solving skills as they sometimes have to deal with unexpected issues. Consequently, they might become wiser decision-makers in their lives.
In conclusion, living together with parents will create a safer environment for children during their transition to adulthood; however, I strongly believe that learning to navigate the challenges of living alone is an essential skill in everyone’s lives and helps people become more mature compared to those who live with their parents.
