The number of computer games is increasing drastically over the last few decades. Some people believe that playing video games has a detrimental effect on health and social growth of children while others think that it has positive effect on their lives. In this essay, I will discuss both views and outline how computer games are harming on children growth.
Firstly, computer games are affecting on children health since it doesn’t have any physical activities. The decease like obesity and vision problems are increasing because of this. The rate of wearing eyeglasses has risen due to continuous watching at the screen. Such as millions of Americans are suffering from a condition called as digital eye strain. Nowadays, youngsters are become more habitual to sedentary lifestyle. Secondly, although parents are allowing their children to play games on computer for keeping them in house, it has adverse effects on their social behaviour. Impact of this. the major issues like Isolation, addiction and aggressive behaviour have occurred. For instance, A study of Dammam found that a 21.7% of children who played the internet gaming had depression, including moderate to severe depression.
Nevertheless, other claims that computer games can be beneficial. One of the major advantages is an enhancement in computer skills which can support in the employment. The artificial intelligence, a computer-based system is growing fastly. The computer knowledge and proficiency are one of the most important skills to earn the money. For example, a few years back, Government had made compulsion to all employees for having digital literacy. They developed and executed a program of Maharashtra state certificate in information technology. Also, they set passing criteria for them. Any skills can be easily learned at younger age because of extensive cognitive abilities.
In conclusion, Children should be encouraged for playing different sports and other physical exercises. Parents must closely monitor their screen time and allow them for those video games, will improve their focus and critical thinking, help them in future.
