Most breadwinners nowadays tend to have a tendency for teaching their children a new language. However, I am of the belief that studying an extra language is undeniably substantial in today’s fast-paced world. Despite having potential drawbacks, it offers numerous advantages.
To begin with, when juniors study a language at an early age, they tend to develop beneficial cognitive abilities and better critical thinking. To elaborate, introducing a foreign tongue to children can help them broaden and sharpen their mental agility by encouraging the brain to multi-task. For instance, students in international schools in Egypt, who frequently switch between two or more languages during school hours, have been shown to outperform those in community schools. This demonstrates that multilingualism likely fosters significant intellectual growth in young learners.
In addition, in recent years, most companies and higher learning institutes have started requiring employees to be bilingual, so being able to communicate with different languages from childhood will give an individual better educational and work opportunities. This means that as juveniles grow older it would be easier for them to work or study anywhere in the world due to being already open to diverse cultures through language multiplicity. For instance, most Arabs are taking the IELTS nowadays to certify their English language proficiency, looking for better jobs or scholarships abroad. Thus, what can be said is that caregivers who expose children to bilingualism at a young age tend to be aiming to provide them with a better future.
In conclusion, this essay has manifested the significance of being able to communicate through different alphabets. It can be said that although many households may preview multilingualism at a young age as an unimportant matter, I believe that children who grow up speaking a language other than their native one will thank their guardians later on.
