While a majority of people think that offspring should learn a second language at a young age, due to the great benefits, others think that it is insignificant at that age. I am of the belief that having another language while you are young is something quite essential rather than positive in today’s world.
To begin with, nowadays learning another language like English or German is a must, not does learning help in gaining experience and knowledge, but it also increases job opportunities. To explain, if someone has a B2 or C1 level in German, he can easily apply for a working visa in Austria or Germany. Moreover multi-national customer service companies are always in need of fluent German speakers. For instance, companies like Teleperformance or Concentrix always provide highly-paid jobs for bilinguals who can communicate in both German and English. Thus, proficiency in other language is one of the key factors that can facilitate migration and succeeding in professional life.
In addition, having the ability to speak and write in other languages rather than the mother tongue, boosts confidence and self-esteem. Furthermore, it improves one’s medical health. To explain, communicating in the daily life with foreigners, enhances the ability to remember things and it also delays dementia. For example, researchers have found that bilinguals are less susceptible to dementia on the contrary of mono-lingual persons who have limited horizons and lack empathy. What can be said is that it has been proven along the years by researches that attaining foreign language proficiency has many merits that outweighs the demerits.
To conclude, after the essay has manifested the advantages of learning a new language, it can be said that the professional and health benefits of foreign languages, surpasses any other flaw if there was any. I believe that the more our world becomes interconnected, the more it requires multi-lingual fluent speakers.
