The widespread belief on whether video games benefit as pleasureful activities and educational tools, or that they are coruptful devices, is one discussed quite controversially throughout the world. In my personal opinion, I believe the drawbacks and negative effects such as, rotting of the brain or even loss of control, outweigh the few leisure filled joys such objects bring.
First and foremost, there are possibilities of positive effects of games, however, it is more socially known for video games to lead to the downfall of the human brain. As times change, the increase in expenditure of video games becomes more abundant. More students and young adults are likely to spend their free time on such corruption, causing the rotting of the brain. As more time is spent on such activities, the brain becomes accustomed to the graphics of the game, and learns to impair all other life senses. Once focus is shoved into video games, the brain fails to comprehend life outside of it, resulting in the disconnection from real life, as such graphics eat away at the cognitive senses of an individual. Studies provided by BBC news, for instance, displays information on the gradual regress of the brain within people who spend their daily routines stuck with their eyes glued to screens, proving the decrease in braincells over the span of just a month.
In addition, the increase in video game consumption has led to the loss of control when regulating emotions. As individuals fill their time with the screams of violent graphics on screens, their levels of cortisol increases by a colossal amount. This increase in anger or outrageous behaviours sufficiently grow over time, creating an agressive and dangerous environment for people surrounded by such individuals. Such minor outbursts of lack of empathy may seem harmless within the moment, however, aggressive moments getting piled up leads to violent and horrendous actions by the following years. It is widely known that within the state of California, the percentage of criminal assaults has risen, along with the rate of violent and unnecesarily graphic imagery provided in video games, both rates having been correlated with eachother within the last four years, providing enough evidence to relate both datas to one another.
In conclusion, many populations believe in the idea of harmless fun whenever it comes to the topic of video games, however, I believe the view on the major factors, including the lengthy receding of the brain and the incline in anger rates, prove otherwise.
