Conflicting views exist as to whether parents should organize free time activities for their child or children themselves must decide how to spend their spare time. This essay will discuss both of these views in support of the children’s decision.
Those who support that parents are resposible for managing a child’s free time claim that from an early age it is hard for a young boy or girl to spend a time without wasting it to non-essentional activities. In other words, a child may not realise that time is limited and parents help them to spend it properly with taking from it benefits.
Additionally, they point out that the activities that they choose to recreation might be harmful for them. For example, if they decide to play computer games in daily basis, they could have a bad eye and health issues.
Meanwhile, other, including myself, are the opinion that only a child should organise free time activities, without relatives’ interfere. Since the restrictions for children to do whatever they want might negatively affect their future live. For them the parental decision will always be prior and it would be challenging for them to organise any event or activity without assistance. Thus, it is not only important to consider freedom to them, but also to broaden understanting towards developing leader treats in child. To illustrate this, if child independently decides whether to learn something new or to spend that free time with his friends, he would be more confident and will value his time.
In summary, despite the arguments presented by critics of parental assistance in organising activities to their children, the evidence and reasoning of freedom to a growing child to determine what he wants to do significantly outweigh the opposing views. Therefore, it is rational to support the freedom for decision, acknowledging the benefits it offers.
