Some individuals are of the opinion that parents should organise leisure time activities for their childrens, while others argue that what children do in their relaxing time should be chosen freely by children. Although acknowledging the possible benefits of choosing ativities that organised by parents of children, I claim that it is better that children take freely part in activities.
Certainly, one might contend that participating in events aranged by parents brings several merits to children . This is because it allows children to connect with their parents, leading to bridging the genaration gap and having better understanding between them. Furthermore, parents will be able to rest since they can totally ensure that their children will not do anything to damage themselves. However, this argument fails to take into account some negative impacts of this phenomenon. One of the main drawbacks is that many parents fill their children’s leisure time with extra classes or lessons. They think that children should learn as much as possible while they are young.
In contrast, children should learn how to manage and enjoy themselves when they be free to choose the activities they want to participate in. First, allowing kids to pick what they do might help them set clear goals for the future. For example, youngsters who are passionate about soccer and have the opportunity to play it all the time will be more likely to pursue a career in soccer. Second, freedom and a lack of control allow young people to relax, avoid tension, and grow holistically.
In conclusion, while acknowledging the potential benefits of choosing activities organized by children’s parents, I am of the opinion it is preferable for children to participate freely in activities. Parents should encourage and guide their children in choosing age-appropriate extracurricular activities.
