Many people believe that animals should be used to produce necessary goods. However, I agree with those, who say that humanity should stop exploiting animals, as it is cruel to harm them and it is bad for the environment.
One reason why people support the idea of exploiting animals is that humans need animal-based products to live. Most of diets are based on products that come from animals, such as meat, milk, or honey. Additionally, any other remaining products are being used to produce leather, oil and medicaments. However, this can be avoided as more and more plant-based meals are available. Another reason is that Christians believe that animals were created by God to serve people, thus they are allowed to rule them. However, I think that God would not apricate the conditions in which animals are kept in the farms.
On the other hand, it is apparent that animals can also feel emotions and pain as people do. Supporters of this point of view say that it is humanity moral obligation to fight violence and brutality in the world. The vast majority of pork and chicken meat that can be bought in supermarkets comes from places where pigs and chickens are kept in dreadful conditions. Furthermore, more and more studies show that production of meat is harmful for the environment, as farmers use a lot of land and resources to build huge farms and to feed animals. For example, cows produce a lot of methane gas that can cause global warming and destroy ozone in the atmosphere.
In conclusion, animal-based products are beneficial for people to thrive and the usage of animals is written in the Bible. However, I agree that moral obligations and the environment should prevent people from harming animals.
