Band 5+: Some people say that citizen should eat only the food produced in their own countries rather than importing abroad.to what extend you agree or disagree

It is admittedly true that, import export business of food is very common at present time. Some people opine it is better for citizens to eat locally produced foods rather than importing from overseas. I agree with the statement and will prove my stand with logical explanation in the following paragraphs.

There are several reasons why we should pay attention to our native foods. First of it will contribute to our national economy system. If we purchase foods from our framers, this will get more encouragement to cultivate more local food. This not only will deal with food shortage but also price hike might be abated. Likewise, the country may gain some foreign currency by exporting additional foods to other countries. My country (Bangladesh), for instance, earn billions dollar every year by selling Hilsha Fish and prawn to abroad. Besides, it will create new employment in the country. Anyone with small investment and Laboure can launch own food business easily. One of my relatives, he in higher secondary school who set up a small fish farm with tiny amount to support his family and his education expenses. And become a role model in his hometown.

In addition, public health will greatly be benefitted as the food stuff will be fresh and organic. We have noticed that preservatives are mixed with exotic food items when they are brought from a long distance which are detrimental to our health. Because of long journey of international foods has loss their nutrition. However, foreign foods can be imported when their price would be comparatively lower than locally produced ones. For example, Bangladesh imports onions occasionally from Turkey although we also produce this in country because of the cost issues.

In conclusion, it can be said after above discussion that it is good from country to emphasize on local foods than importing. This will boost economy, create more employment and benefit public health.

Nowadays, there is an increasing number of daily use goods being transported over long distances. It is believed that providing university places to a considerable number of youngsters is unnecessary and useless.
