Nowadays, the current teaching system contains multiple levels of education that include primary school until universities and in the 21st-century these are focused on teaching facts rather than practical skills including laboratories, internships, study cases among others. This essay will cover the debate between the people who support the approach of learning facts as well as the ones who consider the lack of teaching practical skills in students.
Some people think that all levels of education spend considerable time on learning subjects including maths, biology, history, geography among others. A research conducted by Hernandez (2020) claims that spending time in learning facts will be beneficial for students since the theory can contribute positively to the education process in students. Therefore, when learning facts, students can get wider concepts in understanding the reality of the society and importantly to know what have happened across the time.
Other people consider that the current education system does not consider the practical skills. Consequently, this type of skills is highly needed in students to strength their knowledge. For example, when learning problem resolution, it is important to be involved in companies’ issues in order to practice such skills, while learning facts is more likely to memorise concepts. Hence, practical abilities can improve the individual’s education process, and these are considered when applying for real jobs positions.
To conclude, learning facts across several levels of educations is required for knowing the concept and theory, but it is beneficial when people can be involved in world situations such as practical process. From my perspective, the current education system is more focused on teaching facts than preparing students for the real world. If students can have practices in any subject, it produces a wider learning experience.
