In our modern era, certain groups hold the view that being truly content could require purchasing personal belongings. While other folk believe that to be delighted with life, material goods are not necessary and there are plenty of alternative ways to acquire happiness. In my opinion there are a significant number of proofs that investing money into experience brings more enjoyment rather than property.
Primarily, it is true that for a sufficient percentage of the population buying new possessions is associated with gratification. Moreover, many individuals consider it an entire replacement of close relationships in order to obtain enjoyment and be satisfied with life. For example, fashionable and modern vehicles or luxury accessories often provide people with a dose of serotonin and guarantee a positive mood. On the one hand, the motive of this pursuit is to create the illusion of belonging to specific social status. On the other hand, improving self-image generates the obsession with material items.
However, surprisingly, traveling experience or festivals are valued by rich and influential people more than estate and wealth. The crucial reason is the importance of moments and memories. For instance, a journey to another continent could enable a person to discover exotic activities and hobbies, which bring an individual long-term happiness that would not fade quickly. Additionally, possessions do not contribute to social relationships, despite many beliefs in this.
To sum up, in my opinion, the budget should not be spent on material goods, but for unique experiences. However, several people suggest that their enjoyment depends on their monetary status.
