People claim that technology has made pastimes less meaningful, as people allot a lot of time on smartphones and computers. I partly agree with this viewpoint, while nowdays people use smatphones excessively, there are some people that use technology for beneficial purposes.
On the one hand, as everybody knows, the internet facilitates people’s daily life a lot but Individuals use it for various purposes, such as online shopping, or social media. However, internet has disadvantages, one of them is that it makes communication less meaningful. This is because many individuals prefer to make contact each other on social media platforms and it prevents live meetings. I can also say that it creates articial environment amongst friends. Moreover, especially students inclined to utilize smartphones and computers in the breaks and holidays. I has detrimental effect for them in terms of cognitive development because they just scroll through social media platforms rather than learning new skills.
On the other hand, people can take advantage of technology by using it properly. For instance, people can learn new foreign languages in their free time. The other advantage is that peole can keep in touch with anyone quiete easily who lives far from them.
In conclusion, I am of opinion that we define ourselves how technology influences us, as it depends on us.
