There is a tendency between people to use their electronic devices for watching movies instead of visiting the cinema. It is agreed that gradually the number of people turn up at theatres is decreasing in a view of these current trends. Whereas, some people argue that only watching films on a big screen brings complete enjoyment. I will discuss both views and state my own position towards this trend.

Those who opt for watching films without leaving home instead of going to the cinema, find it flexible to watch it at their convenience, especially, because of the time lap. Due to their busy life schedules, people will not deserve to commit such a long time for visiting the cinema and will prefer short time entertaining activities. Another point in favor is the introduction of online movie libraries for rentals as well as downloads at affordable prices. For instance, both Netflix and iTunes have jumped into this area to offer customers economical options to buy or rent movies. It is more appealing to stay in and watch something on a computer screen or tablet with no physical constraints.

Nevertheless, there are some reasons why silver screen will never become obsolete. Undoubtedly, the feeling of watching a movie on televisions or online will never surpass the instant gratification and thrills of watching in a cinema. The advanced digital effects and the surrounding sound system do affect the atmosphere and the attraction of the film, which satisfy the viewers. For example, it can be also observed that 4D movie watching is becoming a trend in modern society and it is making cinema popular, especially for children. It is not easy to experience 4D at home, as the equipment is expensive and not easy to set up yet.

To sum up, it is acceptable that people tend to be away from the silver screen and watch movies using smartphones and other gadgets due to numerous circumstances. Yet, I personally believe that true film-lovers will never lose interest in going to the cinema, as the sensation and the excitement of watching films in theatres are totally different.
