Nowadays, it is argued by some that watching movies on electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets is preferable to going to the cinema, while others support the opinion that seeing a film in the cinema is more enjoyable. I strongly agree with the latter viewpoint.
On the one hand, people can stream films on platforms and websites such as Netflix, the nkiri.com and Amazon using their mobile phones. This is convenient because viewers can watch movies while after a busy day at work. Furthermore, people have full control over the films hence they can decide to either increase the volume or pause it for later. In addition to this, it is cheaper to see movies on these streaming platforms compared to cinemas and they allow friends and family to have access to one account. A good example of this is Netflix which allows account owners to link their loved ones to their accounts.
On the other hand, going to the cinema gives a high level of satisfaction and it is enjoyable, because the viewers will see films displayed on a large screen while enjoying on snacks like popcorn and meat pies. Secondly, people who go to the cinema are usually the first viewers. This is because film producers might prohibit or restrict streaming platforms from gaining instant access to it. Finally, the cinema facilitates socialization; therefore, it enables individuals to make new friends compared to streaming on mobile phones which may result in isolation and loneliness. For example, many people can connect and go on movie dates with people that they met in a cinema.
In conclusion, although watching films on electronic devices is economical and convenient, cinemas give their viewers the opportunity to see new releases before being uploaded on platforms and they can also meet with new people.
