Sport has long held significant importance for people, helping them maintain their health and even bringing them together. While some people think that sport plays an important role in shaping society, others argue that it is more of a leisure activity than a tool for societal development. Although both views have their merits, i strongly believe that sport is an essential part of both society and daily life
On the one hand, some individuals believe that sport is merely a leisure activity. They argue that there are more fundamental aspects of society, such as medicine and education. Although sport provides health benefits, it cannot serve as a leading factor, because not everyone is physically or mentally capable of participating in it. Meanwhile, education and medicine are fields where physical strength or stamina are not required. Additionally, some people think that athletes do not contribute to society in the same way that doctors or teachers do; while most of their work is primarily designed to help others, athletes mainly benefit themselves.
On the other hand, some individuals believe that sport is more than just a leisure activity. Besides its physical benefits, it is also a tool for bringing people together. Various sporting events, competitions, and tournaments unite people worldwide and strengthen cooperation between individuals from different cultural backgrounds. The World Cup, which takes place every four years, is a great example of coordination and cooperation between nations. People usually gather to support their teams or simply to enjoy the game. Moreover, for many people, sport is a valuable way to reduce anxiety and stress. For instance, some individuals go running after a long, busy week to clear their minds and recharge their energy.
In conclusion, although some people believe that sport is primarily a leisure activity with minor importance compared to other areas of life, such as medicine, I firmly believe that sport plays a crucial role in bringing people together and relieving stress.
