The popularity of crime related productions can be connected with similar situations that can happen in real life as people can feel related when they watch movies about criminals and victims. Also, such movies includes sudden turns of events in main characters’ lives which can be engaging and attract many fans to this kind of genre. Therefore, they may enjoy and gain adrenaline while watching heroic actions or, conversely, observing criminals’ mindset and what is going through their mental condition can be intriguing to some.

The TV programs and movies involving committing crimes and showcashing violence might question its effects on people. In terms of benefits of such productions, they can serve as educational tools for young people or those who do not have adequate knowledge on crime and its consequence. Many teenagers who only know the world in white and black colors may not be aware of real cruelty of some felons, thus gaining new insights through these movies can be advantagious for society that want to build peaceful nation. Not only that, but it can serve as a warning or ‘wake-up call’ for some after knowing the seriousness of some crimes and its consequences offenders have to pay. This can enable some communities lower their crime rates.

However, this type of programmes can have adverse effects with sparking curiosity on some people being one of them. When watching crime focused movies, many people can become fan of some characters even if they play antogonist roles. Despite doing morally wrongful acts, they can still interest people and encourage them to do the same in real life. For example, they may want to hold a gun and threaten others as being armed can be portrayed as having ‘aura’. This all, as a result, lead to increase in crime endeveours and cause disturbtion.

In conclusion, the increasing interest on crime focused programmes are mainly because of people’s emotional connection and relativity to them and thrills it gives to people. As for its effects, it can be both beneficial and detrimental to society depending on how people accept them.
