Many people argue about whether taxpayers’ money should be invested in health care or other more important aspects. In this essay, both views will be presented and it is my conviction that the authorities should spend taxes on enhancing the educational system and national defense.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that investing in health care could bring several benefits to a particular nation. To begin, taxes are considered a pivotal source of money which could foster health care services for the population. Specifically, the authorities can allocate this source of money in order to construct more hospitals as well as equipping them with advanced medical equipment. As a result, the patients could not only have accurate diagnosis but also timely treatment. Addiotionally, some well-invested hospitals might avoid a situation of overload or a stressful environment due to an excessive number of patients. On top of that, authorities could also spend this source on some initiatives and policies to attract and retain talents in the medical fields. This way could be seen as one of the perfect ways to avoid “brain drain” – the situation where talented individuals tend to move to another environment better. Therefore, increasing salary and other perks could make people feel more respected as their efforts and work are recognized and appreciated.
On the other hand, taxpayers’ money should be spent more on education and national defense which is considered to have more significant impacts on both a country and an individual’s life. In terms of the educational system, everyone could have access to education as there are more schools constructed due to this source of money. The young generations, therefore, could be taught and trained more about their country’s culture, traditions, and even the latest development in various fields of sciences which offer them opportunities to prepare for their future. These might be strong workforces, contributing to economic progress. From a perspective of national defense, a country could protect their sovereignty, ensuring the safety and stability of a society. The inhabitants, hence, could live in peace so they might focus on pursuing their own goals and take on more responsibilities, positively affecting society in their own way.
All things considered, although health care is of great importance, it is my belief that taxpayers’ money would best be spent on improving education and fostering national defense.
