In the present climate, the clothing industry has become increasingly popular, making it as an alluring and highly engaging sector worldwide. However, some content that the fashion industry has detrimental effects on the ecosystem. Personally, I fully support this notion and I will elaborate on my reasons in the following essay.
First and foremost, while the world of fashion creates many employment opportunities and is known as a source of entertainment, it has significantly led to environmental degradation. By encouraging people to purchase from the clothing industry, the demand for raw materials in the fashion field has increased and consequently more natural ecosystems are affected. Producing textiles requires the expansion of agriculture fields such as cotton plantation, resulting in the destruction of forests. A prime example is India, a global pioneer in cotton production, has experienced a substantial reduction in the forest coverage due to unrestrained devastation. Consequently, it is justifiable to argue that supplying raw materials for clothing poses significant threat to the environment.
Moreover, the fashion industry not only requires notable areas to produce its raw materials but also has led to notable withdraws from fresh water resources. It has been well-established that various stages of producing clothes necessitate a reliable supply of water. However, current unpredictable climate patterns pose pressing concerns for the availability of fresh water reserves. The scarcity of water, however, is a concerning issue, and its adverse effects can lead to serious challenges such as safety problems and land subsidence. This means that the growth of garment industry could definitely present undesirable effects on the water resources across the globe.
In conclusion, while the fashion industry holds a significant popularity worldwide, it’s damaging consequences for ecosystem is undeniable. I firmly believe the implementation of strict regulation along with enhancing public awareness of environmental challenges, can significantly diminish the unfavorable impacts of apparel industry on ecological environments.
