The influential assist in career determination by parents or peers is considered as a debatable topic. While some proponents believe that the aid in the further academic path could be benevolent, other opponents hold differing viewpoints. I am a staunch believer that it is pivotal that individuals should be completely in control over their future career decisions.
On the one hand, a percentage of people advocates the opinion that youngsters lack the capability to determine their own strength points and abilities. In other words, although younger students have developed characters with certain passions, they still show an incomplete maturity that is coupled with an absent wisdom. There was a study made on a group of students, the study was comprised of multiple surveys that are concerned about the different strength points and weaknesses of each student, a myriad of students were unable to detect their own drives and their actual personalities. Hence, parents and friends could be classified as a mirror for individuals’ performance, and their help in career determination is quintessential.
On the other hand, there is a significant number of contradictors that have conflictual thoughts about the aforementioned topic, by claiming that students should be the ones who are in charge to choose their own right paths. Despite the fact that students have an incomplete personas, they still have prompt decision making skills, and the mentioned issue barely affects their own skills. Personally, I had an experience of an exact imagination and visualization of my own future career, even though I had no prior experience in the determined field. Consequently, it might be unfair to diminish the future hopes of any student and forcefully select their life-time career.
All in all, the impact of the aid in the career selection could have its own merits and demerits, this makes the topic to be a highly controversial issue. As per this essay, I think that the forceful intervention choosing different career niches could lead to cataclysmic consequences on the student’s future.
