Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 5+: Despite better access to education, some adults are not able to read or write. What are the main disadvantages of this? What can be done to solve this problem?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

This generation has a better and more accessible education system than before, yet, there are certain mature and old people who do not have the ability to read and write.

On the one hand, in a society, where education is needed in every spheres of life, some people still lacks the capability to read and write. These problems are fanatic and highly unlikely. Although, in many underdeveloped countries education is as scarce as getting pure drinking water. Then again, If understood the hassles and problems regarding this situation, the adults who does not who how to write and read are far from the sophistication of modern society. In this age of science and technology, they will not be able to adapt with the rest of the peoples living inside the society. As, illiterate adults will find it very hard to learn traffic signals, how to use TVs and computers to watch news and learn about the outer world. For example, If a person with no education goes to a new city, he or she will have a hard time find the address than the person who knows the signs and languages. Because without the knowledge of language or the ability to write and read, they cannot know what is written in the address book, or memorize numbers, or to read billboards. And those people will have to depend on other peoples.

On the other hands, to tackle this issue, governments and NGO’s should come forward hand in hand to find a solution. Governments can provide teachers with the mission to take up this problem and start coaching centers where free education for adults can be provided for free. Furthermore, in village sites, many people could not get education because of their financial situations, so NGO’s should send peoples in those parts of the villages to send well educated peoples to help them learn. It is a sensitive issue because adults who are currently old enough to understand many aspects of life will not want to have a change in their life. So, in this situations, the children’s of the family should help their parents or grandparents or the youths who are educated enough can take up this as a challenge to teach the peoples what they have learnt from schools, colleges and universities. This will not only help the old and matured people to get a good access to education but will also get them a new perspective of life from which they were deprived before.

To conclude, education is more important at this time of civilization than ever. The adults and the other people who are old and does not know how to write or read, to let them the glimpse of this modern age of science and technology, the responsibility lies upon our shoulder.
