Band 5: Some people suggest that a country try to produce all the food for its population and import as little food as possible. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Some people believe that countries should not import their products to other countries and made this products only for their population.This essay totally disagrees with this idea to decrease import to other countries.The essay will first look at how decreasing import to other countries may affect on global economy and then discuss how this decision may create problems inside country that imports food for other countries.

First of all this decision will affect on global economy and standart of living in other countries in general.A lot of countries can not grow any crops due to weather conditionals and they can not obtain some products also due to the natural conditionals of the country.So if countries stop importing some products they make prices on these products will increase sharply due to food shortages.Many countries can not afford such common products as fruits,meat of some animals,sugar,salt and so on.So these are absolutely common products we eat everyday or use in cooking.Also these products are not fancy that is why a lot of poor people can afford it.So even rich people will not be able to afford the products they get from another countries.There are will be chaos in countries about these food.

The second thing that comes with a reduction or cessation of imports to other countries is problems inside countries that import food in other countries.It is not a secret that importing products is country’s main source of income such as tourism.For example if country stops importing products to other countries the country will have no income at all,consequently, the country will have no money and this will become poor.Life expectancy will begin to fall,people will live poorly and other countries will have a shortage of the products that this country produces.

In conclusion,most countries earn money only from imports.The country’s economy is highly dependent on other countries and it is impossible to stop or reduce the import of food products because a lot of countries will suffer even countries that get products from other.
