Well, it is true that nowadays fossil fuels are consumed at a very high volume leading to decline in its level that makes it burning topic of debate for whether to reduce the usage of these fossil fuels by imposing taxes or not. I will consider both sides along with my opinion in conclusion.
First of all, Let’s consider why imposing taxes on fossil fuels can be proved beneficial. So, primary benefit would be obvious that by imposing taxes, usage of these fuels would definately be reduced along with pollution, as it’s a fact that levels has been increased by many folds, all because of these fossil fuels. Secondly, it would not only be beneficial for humans but all forms on earth including natural resources like water, air, and soil.
Whereas on the flip side, by imposing taxes on fossil fuels would be devastating for whole world’s economy cause most of the companies or businesses are heavily dependent on these fossil fuels especially petroleum. Imposing taxes would results in closing of many small scale businesses that can’t afford taxes. Secondly, the most important one that is travelling, which would be harsh for many people cause travelling would also become expensive due to usage of tax imposed fuels to run vehicles like cars, and aeroplanes.
In conclusion, both sides have their own solid reasons but according to me there are many other possible ways to reduce fossil fuels like encouraging people to use electric vehicles that is clean sources of energy or using renewable energy like wind, hydro energy. In this way both sides would be happy by fulfilling both ambitions.
