Over the course of the last century, human beings have made tremendous development in all fields, and one of the major contributors to this development has been the use of complex machines to make work easier and more efficient.The medical field is one of the recipients of this tremendous development, with machines extensively being used in all hospitals.The issue of whether hospitals ought to invest in better staff or machines is contentious because both hold equal importance.In this essay, I shall elucidate why both should be given equal priority.
Firstly, if we consider machines, it is clear that they are as essential in hospitals as the doctors.
Machines such as X-rays, centrifuges, diagnostic softwares and scanners, provide the basis of effective diagnosis. In many cases, AI models have had far more successful diagnosis results than even human doctors.Thus, it makes them indispensable in the medical environment.
Conversely, the machines themselves are useless without the skill, ingenuity and expertise of trained doctors, nurses and support staff.Doctors are far more important to the patient than the machines as they, not the machines provide the primary care to the sick.Furthermore, better doctors give confidence to patients and in turn encourage the sick to willingly come forward to get treated.
In conclusion, I believe that to invest in only machines or doctors is naive and that hospital managements ought to invest in a combination of both.
