Band 8+: Some people think it is better to live in the countryside, while others prefer to live in big cities. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is widely argued that inhabiting rural areas is beneficial for the people in terms of its fresh air and less pollution, while some people opt to live in metropolises in order to have more opportunities in their daily lives. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my own point.

On the one hand, in today’s fast-paced world, many people are consistently moving to urban areas from the countryside. So there are some particular triggers for this. For instance, the primary one is having more job and educational opportunities. This is because individuals do not encounter any hardships and difficulties in order to make a living in cities, as well as desirable learning centres and high-level schools that are beneficial for them or their children, as they provide high-standard education and expertise that can be valuable and useful for their future life. Better access to public transportation, medical services, and also amenities are other advantages of residing in metropolises. With that in mind, people could satisfy their basic needs with these public amenities; in turn, they are more likely to live with emotional joyfulness and stress-free lifestyle. Last but not least, people dwelling in cities may become more contemporary than those who are living in rural areas. The considerable reason is that urban areas are more connected to the world through media, travel, and also business among entrepreneurs.

Despite the significant merits of inhabiting cities, however, I think there are many clear advantages to living in villages. The obvious one is living a more peaceful life, as the levels of noise pollution in the countryside are lower than in the city. Not only do people tend to live their lives more enjoyably and pleasurably, but also they are not as stressful or pressured in the village. Furthermore, in the countryside, dwellers get on well with each other, and social interactions between them have become intimate bonds. Although they reside in simple communities, all of them always look after each other in any situation, such as providing food and lending some money to the poor people. Moreover, people can live an adventurous and healthy lifestyle since there are more stunning landscapes to hang out in nature. More specifically, breathing fresh air is another huge advantage of village dwellers. Nowadays, in the modern world, there are many people who have respiratory issues in cities because of air pollution

To sum up, while living in the metropolitan areas could offer some benefits for people, such as having better access to local amenities or services, life in the countryside is more fascinating and amazing with fresh air rather than struggling with air pollution in the city.
