The global population has reached its peak in the modern world, and the need for housing requires space. However, modern urbanization tends to occupy every available corner for the construction of skyscrapers and homes. Eco-activists argue that it would be more pleasant to plant trees rather than focus solely on adding more apartments. This viewpoint will be analyzed and elaborated on in the essay below.
To start, human beings have three main needs for overall happiness: a cozy shelter, a reliable supply of food, and loved ones. However, we often forget one essential ingredient that is crucial for our existence: oxygen. Air is a fundamental resource that we consume continuously, and one of the most reliable, natural, and straightforward methods of its production is through the photosynthesis of flora and fauna. Plants not only create clean air but also help to filter carbon dioxide from our atmosphere. For instance, even a small plant in our apartments can ensure 75 percent of filtered air and has a positive effect on our immune system. Unfortunately, people often neglect the importance of trees, leading to deforestation, soil erosion, climate change, and natural disasters.
On the other hand, humanity does not stand still. Technological advancements, improvements in urban planning, and the increasing infrastructure needs of humanity are pressing external factors that coincide with residential construction. The demand for modern conveniences often requires more space than we currently have available for apartments. Modern urban planners claim that human interests take precedence over nature’s resources, despite the sacrifices that must be made. This narrative suggests that humanity prioritizes comfort for itself while viewing rainforests solely as raw materials for development.
In summary, I personally believe that the evolution of humanity should not prioritize the sacrifice of nature. We are part of the food chain, and our actions will impact future generations. Our current obligation is to utilize natural resources responsibly, ensuring their preservation for generations to come.
