It is believed that there are no links between news and people’s lives. Hence, reading newspapers and watching television news programs is time-consuming. From my perspective, I completely disagree with this statement.
On the one hand, people nowadays read less newspapers for many reasons. First of all, there is a lack of personal connection in daily life, which means they find it hard to see how the news relates to their life, they do not care about the news because it does not affect them such as global events, complex economic issues,.. and gradually they find that there is no need to update information. In addition, many articles present information that is not in an unbiased and objective way, they do not know and check if the information was false. Therefore, They no longer believe the articles.
On the other hand, it is vital if people use news as a tool for personal safety, reading news helps people be aware of local and global events such as weather conditions, health alerts,.. so that they can protect themselves and their families. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, news provided information about epidemics, helping people prevent and understand the outside situation. Moreover, reading newspapers helps grasp economic trends and social changes, which people can find and orient about professions as well as business investments.
In conclusion, I agree with the statement that news is a crucial thing to connect people’s lives although using it in the wrong way can mess up the facts.
