There are divergent opinions regarding the fact that many individuals believe that sending criminals to prison is not a positive way to deal with them. In addition, they think that education and training are much better. This essay will delve into this problem before introducing my perspective that I agree with this idea because of the peer influence and emotional effectiveness.
On the one hand, some people think that sending offenders to jail is one of the best ways to curb the issue. There are several types of criminals that may affect the population, therefore they need to be punished by imprisonment. For example, some serious criminals such as murderers have to receive prison sentences to protect the society from being killed or kidnapped. Moreover, under the management of policies, lawbreakers may be reformed by following the rules.
On the other hand, others and I support the solution that education and training are more effective, instead of imposing stricter punishments on people who commit a crime. In today’s society, juvenile criminals are increasing significantly and this tendency should be tackled by sending them to rehabilitation centers. In fact, many teenagers are too young to realize the situations and might have psychological issues due to their family and surrounding environment. Rehabilitation schools are extremely essential in this case, in order to help them overcome problems such as anxiety and anger. Finally, when criminals are sent to education and training centers, it may lead to a positive future because they can be influenced by other peers in academic competitions. For instance, rehabilitation programmes usually involve academic competitions to help offenders against each other by learning, and this can result in ex prisoners which are beneficial to society.
To sum up, while sending criminals to jail is the first step to deal with them, education and training can also bring advantages in terms of helping lawbreakers become good individuals.
