It has been said that technological devices have facilitated communication with different generations, meanwhile some argue this may avoid meaningful interaction within families. In this passage, both benefits and drawbacks will be discussed and express my opinion.
To begin with, technological devices may connect family members from different generations. These days, it is common to set up a family group in WhatsApp so that they may share information easily to all members, ranging from recommending health supplements to managing a family dinner in the coming festival. Millennial grandchildren and grandparents may communicate to minimize their generation gap. This may increase the opportunities for them to chat and update their social life, which brings an advantage for facilitating their communications.
Nevertheless, technological devices may prevent physical connections between family members. Nowadays, teenagers are used to communicating by gadgets or phones, which decrease their ability to communicate directly. They become introverted and not able to express their thoughts during a face to face conversation, which technology devices cannot sharpen their soft skills. As a result, virtual connections have decreased their sensitivity to chatting and getting on with other family members.
In my point of view, I believe technological devices may ameliorate family relations. It is mainly because online communication may still provide meaningful connections between members. In my own experience, I may FaceTime with my aunt and chat with her even if she is in another country. It may provide a connection without limitations, for instance, time and venue. Sending photos, videos of her dog or even by messages, so it is possible to be the same as face to face communication. Therefore, online connections are still effective.
To conclude, technological devices usage has been a controversial issue to be discussed. In my opinion, I espouse technological devices may improve family relations. No matter what method we communicate by which method, it is vital for us to facilitate effective communication with our family members.
