In this essay, I will elaborate on both views before presenting my viewpoint on the subject matter.
On the one hand, proponents of this view argue that living in apartment complexes provides numerous benefits. To begin with, apartment complexes often host hundreds of families, which can bring about unique benefits for the collective security of all residents. This helps contribute a monthly cost to the security systems, such as installing cameras and hiring experts on security. As a result, the residents’ safety is enhanced, which can not be done easily for people living in independent houses. Secondly, in the same area, the construction of apartments can generate more housing units compared to what can be achieved if private houses were constructed, making the cost of apartments more affordable. Since apartment complexes comprise large populations, planners can put together many essential facilities, such as swimming pools, schools, and even gyms. This reduces the demand for travel of residents, helping them save their time and money.
Regarding private houses, on the other hand, it is believed that as independent houses have a simpler structure compared to the massive scale of apartment complexes, planning for fire escapes and solutions for emergencies is generally straightforward. This decreases the cost of construction and makes it easier for people to escape once problems emerge. Furthermore, when an owner purchases a private house, it often includes the ownership of the land, helping the price of estates increase more steadily and predictably compared to apartments. As a result, for investors who prioritize return on investment, private houses have a significant advantage.
In conclusion, although both views have merit, I am of the belief that the ultimate choice would be dependent on the needs of each owner. While people who value privacy may find that apartment complexes are not suitable for them, the affordability and accessibility of apartments are exceptionally valued by people with a lower income level.
