Band 7+: Some people think that children's leisure activities must be educational otherwise, they are a complete waste of time.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Spare time activities are necessary for a child’s growth, both mentally and physically. Some parents argue that they should be controlled with education-based activities. Otherwise, those tasks are considered a waste of time. From my perspective, I completely disagree with this notion, and I will explain my view with related examples.

To begin with, children should have leisure time for relaxing as they wish. What I mean is that, during their study time, they will be pressured enough with difficult subjects. If parents force their children to learn without any breaks or games, it will totally reduce the child’s effectiveness in further learning. For instance, through games, kids refresh and sharpen their minds after heavy lessons. Some studies have shown that refreshment helps the brain to work and receive information quickly and effectively.

In addition to this, kids have their own unique, imaginative way of thinking. If adults do not let their children have time for their own ideas, in the future, these children might become less creative. For example, all children do not have the same abilities; they have their own creativeness and style of learning. By means of games, parents can observe a child’s style and opinions. Furthermore, there should be a balance between free time activities and study time.

To sum up, to relieve stress from their studies, adults must balance their children’s time correctly. Thus, pupils will not suffer from challenges that they may face during their studies, and by means of games, they can integrate lessons and games to improve their creativity.
