There is an ongoing debate over who should deal with current environmental concerns since they have become global issues, with some arguing it is the government’s responsibility, while others claim that individuals should tackle these problems. In my opinion, although people can have a significant role in solving these problems, the government should take greater responsibility.
On the one hand, individuals can contribute to environmental protection through daily activities such as recycling household waste, avoiding disposable plastics, and using public transportation instead of private cars. For instance, at present, only minority of people commute to work or study taking a bus or cycle in order to reduce pollution. Moreover, consumers of products with plastic packages tend to send the waste to recycling facilities, which can be environmentally friendly activitity. However, these measures might seem insignificant, since they are not adopted by majority of people.
One the other hand, governments are in a better position to tackle global problems because they have the financial resources to implement large-scale solutions. For example, they can introduce strict regulations to minimize amount of harmful gases released by factories and adopt heavy fines on companies that violate environmental standars. Furthemore, authorities can invest in renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, to alleviate dependence on fossil fuels. Therefore, governments can address those issues and achieve lasting environmental improvements in collaboration with individuals in the country.
In conclusion, although individuals can help to protect the environment be making responsible choices, I believe that government should take the leading role as they have the power to introduce effective limitations and implement solutions
