While some people argue that individuals should be responsible for safeguarding the environment, others believe that it’s primarily the responsibility of the government. The government role in protecting the environment by the regulations and rules is also crucial, but I believe individuals should protect the the environment by reducing of the use of plastic products and private vehicle.
On one hand, governments possess greater power and resources to implement large scale environmental policies to protect the environment. They can introduce laws to regulate industrial emissions, invest in renewable energy sources, and impose taxes on harmful activities. If the government invests in solar power as an alternative energy source, it may motivate citizens to decrease their dependence on fossil fuels. For example, the Chinese government enforced a new law prohibiting private vehicles in central areas, which has encouraged people to rely on public transport and carbon dioxide emissions reduce instantly.
On the other hand, in my opinion, people should change their personal lifestyle to protect the environment while minimizing plastic consumption and reducing car dependency. People can reduce waste by recycling, conserve energy by switching off unused appliances, and choose public transportation instead of private vehicles. If every individual adopted environmentally friendly habits, the cumulative impact would be substantial. For example, in countries like Switzerland, citizens actively participate in recycling programs, which has significantly reduced landfilled waste. Such nationwide initiatives would be possible for individuals to achieve alone.
In conclusion, while individuals can contribute through responsible daily actions, governments hold greater responsibility due to their authority and resources.
