It is often argued that a child’s family has the biggest impact on their development, while others disagree and think other elements – like friends, music, television, etc. – now have a bigger influence. Both of these views have a basis and will be discussed in this essay.
On one hand, supporters of the view that the family has the most powerful influence are those who believe that the family is the first environment that children interact with. This is where children learn basic values such as love, respect and morality. Parents are the first to teach important lessons in life, helping children form their personality. In addition, the family provides safety and protection, helping children develop their emotions and become stable and confident in themselves.
On the other hand, other factors such as television, friends, and music also have a significant influence. Children are now receiving a lot of information from the media, especially television and the internet, from a very early age. TV shows, movies, and social platforms can affect children’s behavior. Moreover, friends and social environment also have a strong influence. Children learn social skills, how to resolve conflicts, and new values from these relationships.
However, I believe that although other factors play an important role, family is still the most important factor in the development of children. Family is not only the first place for children to learn but also a source of encouragement and support throughout their whole life. External factors may have a strong impact, but without the instructions and love from the family, children may easily be wrongly affected in their development.
In conclusion, although other factors can affect children’s development, I still believe that the family plays a decisive role in forming a child’s personality and their future development.
