Few people argue that governments should abolish hazardous sports, while some argue that the choice of which sport to pursue should be left to the players. I believe that completely banning the threatening ones would be a wrong decision. Yes, some safety rules can be enforced for that particular sport.
Certain individuals claim that sports should not involve any risk or hazard of harming oneself. According to them, the perilous ones need to be banned by those at the helm of affairs. Undoubtedly, there have been many unfortunate accidents on the athletic field. A recent one was the death of Australian cricketer Phil Hughes after being hit by a bouncer on the back of his head.
Sports is a leisure time activity for some and a passion for others. Completely disallowing some would strip people of their livelihoods. What game to take up shall be a choice of the athlete only. He/she must be free to choose whatever sport he/she wants to play. The government can establish certain rules and regulations concerning the safety of players. This will promote safer and healthier playing environments. For example, regulations shall be issued for making tougher helmets with rear guards to avoid similar accidents on the cricket ground.
In conclusion, I am in complete disagreement with people asking to totally ban certain dangerous sports. The ruling authorities could enforce some laws for the safety of those on the field. Thus, allowing the players the freedom to choose their sport of interest and excel in the same.
