It is often argued that governments ought to invest more in public transportation rather that constructing new roads. However, I disagree with this statement because constructing roads is more beneficial, as it provides economic development, and nowadays, most people prefer to use their personal cars instead of public transport.
Firstly, investing in building new roads leads to the connection different areas, making it easier for business to transport goods. Transporting goods, now, is becoming increasingly popular, as online shopping is more comfortable and beneficial. Therefore, more new roads need to be constructed to support this trend. As a result, road construction creates jobs, such as engineers, machine operators and construction workers.
Secondly, public transportation can be inconvenient for most people, as crowded places may affect not only physical health but mental health also. In small towns, buses or trains may not be comfortable or cost-effective. Many people still rely on cars for flexibility. For instance, schedule freedom, a person can drive whenever or wherever he wants without transfers, which can lead to a waste of time. In addition, cars allow to carry things easily however, in public transport carrying items can provide inconveniences.
In conclusion, I believe that investing money in constructing new roads can be more beneficial because it provides economic growth, and use of public transport may not be much needed because personal cars provide more opportunities for people’s comfort.
