Indonesia is on the four potition for the country with biggest popolation in the world. The demography is not distributed in all area, the population is concentrated on the capital city or metropolitan area. Because of the numerous population in some area causes some problem like poverty, high number of unemployment and even include slum area.
The increase of transmigration from a rural area to metropolitan area causes the denseness of housing. The avabiality of open space is decrease over the decade. Eventough the government already ratificate the regulation that regulate every city must have 30% from the area for open space (such as park, city forest) but many of city in Indonesia doesnt implement those regulation.
In the capital city like Jakarta the vacant area is one of the problem. Some area in Jakarta is categorizes as desenly area (for example is Penjaringan is famous for the slum and the most desensly area in southeast asia). It makes every house in these area hard to park their vechile at their home. In these case people used to rent an open space as vacant area. It also caused decrease open space for the green area.
In my opinion, an open space should used as a green open area that public can used it as a facility to exercise, playground to the kid and the infiltration area. It more usefull for public with a variety age.
But, In the other hand, the problem of vacant area is must to be fixed, the government could addapt a regulation in japan where the public is forbidden to have a vechile if their house didnt have a vacant area. In my opinion its a good silution for the vacant area problem and also it could fix the traffict problem in Jakarta. With this regulation encaurage people to use public transport .
