In the contemporary era, a school of thought indicates that people can do better their tasks with a certain dependence, while some assume they tend to complete their work on their own. Both viewpoints are justifiable, I lean towards the latter which is considered and examined on both social and individual aspects.
On the one hand, evidence has shown that a part of mankind is cultivating their generation based on dependence and personal selfishness. In particular, numerous parents are nurturing their kids to be center-attention individuals by the ways they always adapt to all requirements of their little angels, thus enhancing the kids’ troubled childhood due to the inability to be fully independent. For instance, a father who has accommodated his children’s every demand since their early stages ultimately leads to over-reliance even when those kids grow up, they cannot achieve anything without help from someone. Furthermore, another dependent-related situation is that people are living in a fast-paced lifestyle when humans are struggling with an overwhelming workload at the office, they actually ask for some assistance on some special jobs. For example, a homeowner, instead of cleaning his accommodation by himself which commits to a certain timeframe and special skills, definitely needs a favor from household maid services which are easily accessed on online apps these days.
On the other hand, I would agree that living conditions in a modernized society have made us free and less reliant on others for some particularities. Firstly, in most countries, young children are trying to support their education and living costs due to their modern-mindset parents. Those individuals are free to pick the school, travel to other countries, and make their choices for most of the major events in their life including picking their life partners. Secondly, the gender equality and women empowerment movements have greatly made women free from others’ reliance and self-dependent, which has been all possible only recently. For instance, women had to be accountable persons in the household running and looking after children many decades ago, while they have the freedom nowadays to choose their career, hence many of them achieve their wonderful accomplishments.
To sum up, many people think that human beings are more independent these days, but others disagree with this statement. In my point of view, mankind is less reliable to others in this era, since the world has improved in many ways, such as in parental manners and the progression of gender balance.
