It is widely debated whether people these days depend more on each other or have become more self-reliant.In the modern world, it is hard to say that someone can satisfy all their needs by themselves, as we live in the age of communication and globalization, the rate at which humans make progress has exteremly increased, so I believe people have become more dependent on each other and also the big corporates, and it is a good thing.

If we look back to the lives of our ancsestors, and compare their lives to our lives these days, it becomes crystal clear that most of the hardship they went through was the result of living as separate colonies rather than one whole group of people. In the past, in order for a person to provide food for his family, he would have needed to farm weat, have sheeps and cows and … just to satisfy the basic needs of his family, let alone the need for clothes or entertainment.

On the other hand, the modern life that we live now, is the result of cooperation between people which of whom have taken up a part in the prosperity of the society. For example, instead of having everyone produce their milk from their own cows by themselves, which is totally counter-productive, having fewer specialized companies to produce our needs is a much more convinient way.

To conclude, dependency on other people or parties is in its nature a good thing because it encourages establishing good and healthy relations between people, but the problem starts when this dependency become a one way street. To take the most out of the benefits that came with the modern life, it is best that everyone try to specialize in a profession and not just become a sole user.
