Some have discussed whether people tend to rely more on others in the modern world or not. From my point of view, the current society has made us more independent than it used to.
I think there are two main reasons that lead to this situation. First, modern society focuses on professionalization greatly, this is because people nowadays work together more frequently. The requirement of jobs ask for a higher level of skills. Expertises are more valuable currently, so people have to get what they need, whether it is food, services or necessities, from others more often. Secondly, technology has made a great advancement in communication. As a result, people can keep in touch with their friends, relatives and families more easily. In addition, they can find more assistance as well. The society also has a lot of resources that can help people.
On the other hand, I could understand the opposite viewpoints. One common argument is that the construction of families has totally changed . The reason is that families nowadays are smaller than they used to be. Many people choose to leave home to find better jobs far away from home or improve/ elevate their quality of life. However, even though people own mobile phones/ cell phones, they cannot get physical help from their parents or siblings directly.
In conclusion, some people believe modern society are more dependent, whereas I’m convinced that they have grown more independent because of professionalization and the advancement of technology.
