It is argued by some members of public that the importing foreign TV shows and movies have benefits for country’s culture, while others believe that country should produce these locally. From my viewpoint, both importing and producing locally have their own positive aspects.
On the one hand, it is believed that importing movies and TV shows from overseas have positive impact for country’s culture, as it helps to their citizens explore other countries’ cultures, traditions and people’s lifestyle. As a result, citizens become more knowledgeable, and improve their general culture and vision about other countries. Proponents of this claim also belive that importing movies and TV shows also reduce the economic weight of the government, so they can spend this money on more benefical fields for citizens such as medical sector, education, and so on, which will improve living standarts of citizens.
On the other hand, it is also believed that it is better to produce movies and TV shows domestically because of some reasons. The first one is that movie and TV shows produced locally can demonstrate to other nations about country’s culture, traditions and history. It will help to foreign people to learn more about this country and encourage them to visit this country as a tourist. As a result it will positively affect to country’s economy. Moreover, producing movies and TV shows lead to establishing new job opportunities for actors, producers, young talented people, and so on.
In conclusion, although a group of people hold a view that producing movies and TV shows is the better option, i believe that importing these have a positive impact to country’s economy and improves citizens vision about other overseas countries.
