Many think that young people learn responsibility from their parents due to the enormous amount of time they spend together. Nonetheless, I completely disagree that adolescents learn moral education best at school due to the importance of academic subjects, such as English and Science, as they are vital in progressing to higher education.
In the modern era, parents have been the role models of their offspring. As they spend most of their time doing various activities together, parents can be a great influence because young people tend to mimic them which leads to adopting their values. For example, in school, the young often write essays about their fathers. This means that kids frequently observe their parents’ positive qualities through their actions and words. Therefore, parents have the responsibility to impart moral knowledge to their children in order to make them a well-behaved citizen.
On the other hand, schools focus on core subjects instead of ethical lessons. In order for students to successfully move on to higher studies, schools emphasize academic learning; mainly focus on cognitive development. For instance, all of the courses available in the universities do not include moral education as their required subject. Due to the lack of attention to ethics, young people do not have the chance to obtain it in school through education.
In conclusion, children can become a responsible person if their parents put effort in showing them the right way to behave as they learn through observation. Nevertheless, I still opine that schools are not the best place to gather moral knowledge as they do not have the capacity to spend time on it.
