There is a belief among some that government should invest money in the infrastructure of railways, while others claim that it is more worthwhile to put investment in roads. Personally, I partly agree with this suggestion based on some major reasons that are provided in this essay.
There are some reasons that explain why railways should receive more financial investment. It is true that railways run on a separate line that connected to every place in the country and do not involve other vehicles. That is to say, getting around the city by train is not only safer but also with a faster speed as there are no traffic jams. Moreover, enhancing railways infrastructure can be an effective solution to reduce pollution. To elaborate further, an average train can transport up to one hundred passengers in each trip and most trains are now powered by electrical energy. As a result, the carbon emission would be reduced dramatically, which create significant impact on the environment.
On the other hand, road investment is also an effective strategy to develop the country. Roads are among the most essential infrastructure in a country as almost every transportation such as cars, motorbikes, buses, and bikes are running on it every day. In a hustle-and-bustle city, the amount of traffic on the road is overwhelming, which result in lots of traffic jams. That is to say, investing in expending the roads and creating more of them could alleviate this problem, leading to more time-saving, and better experiences for passengers.
In conclusion, whether the government enhancing roads or railways, both not only bring benefit to the environment but also improve the standard of living for all citizens in the country. In my opinion, government should put concerted efforts on enhancing these two infrastructures and balancing the amount of money to upgrade both of them.
