Band 4: Some people think that reading newspapers and watching news television are the waste of time. to what extent do you agree or disagree? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

It is argued that checking the news in newspapers or turning on the News channels on television do not make a sense, therefore they are the waste of time. This essay disagrees with the statement, because, despite we cannot facilitate or make any changes on already happened cases, we must now what is going on there in our locals.

News usually tell the readers about already happened cases, therefore people think that now all they can do is to wait another pairs of those articles. However, recent news gave us the greatest chance to be aware of our safeness and well-being, since if article is about criminal, that story probably would happen again. For example, in 3 month there was a murder of shop assistant, this situation not only caused big bedbug in public, so the problems to government. Since then it affected all the shops policy to protects their employees better and people started avoiding dangerous places. News contributed the better awareness and safety, as soon as the story was told to public.

News bring people together. News from read newspapers, from television channel from anywhere will contribute people to discussion and opinion exchange. It brings sense of unity and understanding to society. Discussing about global problems, Olympic Games and political evidences with new people would help us to know about them even better. For example, when we want to discuss something in a debate, it is common to judges to choose one of these topic. Therefore, in cases like this, it is pretty important to look for a news.

In conclusion, reading newspapers and watching TV News channels are not the waste of time, conversely we must look for them, if we want to be both aware of unpleasant facts and socially develop.
