Nowadays, the issue of whether it is necessary to learn international news in secondary school has become a matter of great concern. There are two main viewpoints regarding to this issue.Some people cliam that the secondary school should focus on academic teaching, while others believe that understanding this kind of international news is beneficial for children’s development.In this essay, both dides of the argument will be analyzed.
On one hand, those who support teaching international news in classroom is a waste of time have valid points. One of the main reasons is that these students, who are totally cognitively immature, do not have the enough intelligence and ability to understand such news, thus wasting the valuable school time.For example, it is too difficult for children to understand the complex reasons of economic wars, and global news are so dull that hard to catch their concentrations.As a result, there is no need to teach secondary students international news.
On the other hand, proponents of supporting teaching such news in classrooms also have their own justifications.First and foremost, this is a significant way to develop students’ critical thinking and will open up a whole new sight to solve problems. A case in point is children, especially in their formative years, are more likely to shape their personalities and lay a foundation for their future.Moreover, explaining the principle of international news will provide a platform for them, which helps them to gain a deeper understanding of current international dynamics.Consequently, children can benefit a lot from the worldwide news.
In conclusion, both opinions have their own strengths and weakness.From my perspective, a balance approach that takes into account the elements of both views would be the most ideal solution.
