In today’s modern world, some claim that foods and beverages that are proven to be detrimental to human health by researchers should be removed from stock. I, personally, fall into the second camp due to some underlying motives.
It’s necessary to acknowledge that selling unhealthy food products indeed has downsides as well. First and foremost, a massive number of people will suffer from physical health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and many more. Goods sold in the markets are usually considered to consist of chemical elements, which gradually make people addicted. For instance, caffeine and sugar in soft drinks, especially in Coke, make millions of people obsessed with its flavour. Once a person is addicted, the demand will soar, eventually leading to problems related to their well-being. Additionally, market manipulation by big food companies will result in massive misinformation and misleading ads, which confuse consumers about what’s healthy. Companies use marketing tricks, especially on children, to push unhealthy products, prioritizing profit over public well-being. To illustrate, instant tacos and pizzas sold in Walmart do not directly show the number of calories their food contains, as they are not willing to let their sales go down.
Despite several disadvantages, artificial food has an array of benefit sides. To begin with, as the population of humankind continues to grow, more food is required to meet people’s needs. The high demand for food encourages organizations to create new types of artificial snacks and supply them to the public. In China, for instance, the birth rate is considered one of the highest in the world; therefore, the government and companies are obligated to develop and sell new products to meet the growing demand. To be more specific , there’s no any choice apart from legislating those goods for not letting people suffer from famine . Latterly , artificial foods are often cheaper to produce and purchase than fresh, organic items. This makes them more accessible to low-income families and benefit them by saving their money for other things . Specifically , processed bread or packaged meals cost less than organic, homemade alternatives .
To sum up , although non-organic foods and beverages lead to public health issues as well as massive disinformation , the advantages such as high rate of supply and affordability outweigh these downsides.
