A significant number of individuals contend that time should be spend by young students for working or travelling after finishing high school before starting college education. While others argue that university education should be started after finishing high school. This essay will discuss both perspectives before giving my reasoned opinion on why a student needs to work after high school before joining university.
To begin with, people think that high schoolers need to get work experience or get a chance to explore to world before they pursue higher education. Students get an exposure to work with top companies, esteemed people, and get access to numerous learning opportunities. As a result, they will feel more confident and prepared about choosing their courses for higher education. Travelling abroad will also assist students with a wide range of career options to pursue and get an experience to work with international leaders and communities. For instance, a study shows that students who gained experience through volunteering at multinational companies after their high school, got an exposure to the working environment and gained valuable knowledge. Hence, one can easily now decide their desirable courses to pursue.
On the other hand, individuals believe that students should directly go for their university education. By this, students would be able to get continuous learning without a gap. This will result in linear learning. Also, one can finish their studies quicker and then start looking for career opportunities. For instance, even today a lot of Asian countries follow this system, where continuous learning still prevails and university graduates get well versed with their field of study and even get work opportunities in their last term of university studies.
In conclusion, though many believe that student should go for university directly after high school due to continuity in learning, I still believe that one should get a working experience before university education as it will help him to pursue his desire career.
