In the recent era, there is an argument that the responsibility of social and intellectual pupils’ progress is mainly on their school instructors rather than their parents. I entirely disagree with giving the majority of developmental responsibility to teachers; as instructors and parents both share equal role in children’s life.
On the one hand, the reasons why parents have a vital role are varied. Firstly, they have an early influence on their children; as they shape kids’ manners and behaviours from birth. For example, parents are teaching their child how to treat other people politely. Moreover, they mainly focus on building their children’s characters and giving them adequate emotional support to develop effectively. To illustrate, parents have been instilling ethics, empathy and cultural traditions in students’ life and assisting them in each step in their life since they were young. As a result, they can have a balanced character.
On the other hand, teachers’ responsibilities are crucial and various. One of them is that school instructors are responsible specifically for the academic development. To elaborate, teachers are trained professionals who understand child psychology and intellectual progression. Consequently, they enable students with the suitable knowledge, which suits their mental and academic age. Furthermore, teachers guide the social interaction of child during their education. For instance, they observe and modify the students’ interaction with peers, learning cooperation and the respect between each other. Therefore, pupil learn how to communicate with their colleagues following the correct rules and have a better life.
In conclusion, I believe there is no absolute way to determine whether parents or teachers should take the dominant role in students’ development as both tackle the responsibility in different ways.
