The safety of road transportation has always been a critical issue in modern society, as technology evolves rapidly. Some people believe it is necessary for drivers to take tests each year, while others oppose this idea. In my view, I find it unfair and unnecessary to impose the idea due to the fact that it is not going to solve the problem, and it’s more important to improve traffic infrastructure, therefore I totally disagree.
First of all, it is unfair and useless if the government enforce drivers to take tests each year, as deficiencies in knowledge and driving skills are not the primary factors for road accidents. However, road accidents are majorly caused by reckless driving, drunk driving, distractions, and speeding according to the statistics and news. Best solution to enhance safety of road transportation is to raise fines and punishments against irresponsible drivers. As an result, it is expected to increase awareness of drivers when driving on roads, as most of the drivers would try to prevent fines and punishments which has been raised.
Moreover, instead of making every driver to take tests each year, it is more crucial to improve our traffic infrastructure. This is mainly because there are many new types of transportation devices nowadays, and the regulations and designs in our society does not meet the requirement today. For example, e-bikes, e-scooters, e-skateboards, e-buses, three-wheeled e-bikes, etc. have now become popular transportation method for daily commute. To update our traffic designs and law enforcements would be much effective to improve safety road transportation.
In conclusion, I believe it is better to raise punishments against irresponsible drivers, and to enhance traffic infrastructures to improve safety issue, therefore I disagree about letting drivers to take tests every year.
