An idea of rising age for driving , in order to enhance the road safety is often suggested by some. In my opinion , while increasing age can help in some ways but there are is need to consider other alternative measures as well for the better outcomes.
on the one hand, rising age ensures that the individuals behind the wheels have necessary maturity and responsibilty . In other words, many younsters are swayed easily in risky activities such as performing stunts and overspeeding , increase in number of accidents and creating life threatening situationns for others as well . so, with increasing legal age for driving , there could be more mature and experienced drivers with better judgement. Hence, there could be downfall in number of deadly accidents.
However, a singular focus on only rising age may ignore other factors which are also resaponsible for road safety. In other words, the infrastructure of roads is often ignored while improving the driving safety . To explain , the surface of the road may be uneven which can be a reason for mishappening. Similalry, improper lighting and improper markings on the roads can also compromise the safety rules. Subsequently, funds could be invested for the regular maitainance such as for inspection and repairs . Hence, it could be another positive step for ameliorating the risks on the roads.
Additionally, increasing the amount of penalty for violation of safety rule can help in creating more disciplined drivers. For instance, there could be heavier fines for overspeeding and drunk driving. Not only this but also stricting the licensing procedures can bring advantageous results. To clarify, there must be advanced testing system that requires advanced training and clearing the driving test in simulated real-life situations to test an individual’s level of seniority. Resultantly, only responsible and careful drivers could have right to drive.
To sum up, while there is a merit in the idea of setting a higher age limit for driving but a holistic approach can help to achieve long lasting improvements in road safety.
